Arina Sobolenko — Belarusian tennis player, the world's number one and one of the brightest stars of modern tennis. She was born on May 5, 1998, in Minsk.
Arina grew up in a sports family: her father Sergey was a hockey player. She got into tennis by chance — one day, while driving past courts with her father, she asked to be enrolled in lessons and fell in love with this sport immediately. The girl's first coach was Elena Vergeenko, who noted the stubborn character of the young athlete. At the age of eleven, Arina changed coaches. At the junior level, she did not show outstanding results, having only five titles at ITF tournaments.
Sobolenko's professional career began in 2015. The first significant breakthrough occurred in 2018, when she won her first WTA title in New Haven, followed by a prestigious tournament in Wuhan. In 2019, she also won the US Open in doubles with Elise Mertens.
The real success came to Arina at the Grand Slam tournaments. In 2023, she won the Australian Open for the first time, defeating Elena Rybakina in the final. Since then, she has become one of the most stable tennis players on the tour. She has four Grand Slam titles in singles: twice she won in Australia and twice — at the US Open.
At different times, Sobolenko was rumored to be dating hockey players, including Konstantin Koltsov. Currently, she is in a relationship with the Brazilian entrepreneur Giorgios Frangoulis, the founder of a cafe chain. In March 2026, the couple announced their engagement.
