Many people consider it a positive development that cadet corps with their pre-revolutionary traditions are being revived in our country. There are already several cadet corps in Moscow. As a student of one of them, I would like to tell you about my own, the Moscow Georgievsky Cadet Corps named after Marshal Zhukov.
The building was formed in 1995. In 1997, it consisted of more than 50 boys. The cadets were led by Lieutenant Colonel Viktor Yuryevich Bondyukov. In addition to general education subjects, Zhukovsky cadets teach additional military disciplines: drill, fire, topographical, engineering training, tactics, history of tactics of the Russian troops, there is a hand-to-hand combat section. Cadets are interested in everything, they delve into the smallest nuances of military service and life. As was the custom in pre-revolutionary cadet corps, Zhukovites are also introduced to ballroom dancing, etiquette, and rhetoric.
The students respect and follow not only the regulations of the Armed Forces, but also their own internal regulations, the Regulations of the Cadet Corps. These serve as a guide for the younger generation of military ancestors. In terms of heraldry, the St. George Cadet Corps resembles the "old" cadet corps. V.Yu. Bondyukov personally designed the emblems, chevrons, and shoulder straps, as well as the system of breast insignia.
Once a year, Zhukovites celebrate a special day that is memorable to them - December 1. On this day, the famous military leader Marshal Zhukov was born. The cadets dedicate exciting military quizzes and sports competitions to this event.
My classmates never miss a chance to participate in city sports competitions. Each young man has his own personal achievements in sports.
The cadet ski team is one of the best in the North-Western district of the capital, and athletes Sergey Abramov and Sergey Obertas have won awards at various competitions. Nikolai Makarov, Evgeny Alyokhin, and Alexander Lapshin have a large number of parachute jumps.
The guys are constantly giving presentations on military-historical topics. Moreover, the Zhukov cadets' presentations have been heard at all-Russian conferences. Our communication is not limited to the educational process. Visiting various exhibitions, celebrations, and military events brings our team together. Recently, the cadets visited a military hospital to support wounded soldiers and officers from Chechnya.
Almost all cadets dream of joining the military to fulfill their dream of becoming career officers. My comrades intend to enroll in military academies, thus joining the ranks of true military professionals.
The boys are very proud of the fact that their epaulettes bear the initials of the greatest military commander of the 20th century, Georgy Zhukov. He serves as an example for the cadets to follow in all aspects of their lives. I believe that anyone who has worn such "crimson epaulettes" since their youth would understand the importance of continuity, military traditions, and camaraderie.
We will continue the traditions of military brotherhood and cadet youth with dignity.
