The interest in a compact submachine gun in special forces armies of various countries is quite understandable. Special forces soldiers operating in urban environments especially need automatic weapons that have a high rate of fire, reliability and compactness.
Russian gunsmiths have developed and mass-produce several types of weapons that meet these requirements. These are submachine guns "Cypress", PP - 90 and "CEDAR". Moreover, the name of the latter has nothing to do with the handsome man from the Siberian taiga, but stands for: "The construction of Evgeny Dragunov". It has a number of original elements. First of all, this is a modular principle characteristic of all E. F. Dragunov's creations: if necessary, the product is disassembled into separate components. The dimensions and weight of the CEDAR allow you to shoot both with the butt resting on the shoulder, and with one hand holding. Based on the successful and reliable CEDAR, the Klin submachine gun was created, capable of firing a high-pulse 9-mm pistol cartridge. It remains to add that the submachine guns of the CEDAR family during comparative tests with similar foreign models (Scorpion, Mini-Uzi, Star-Z-84) showed their superiority in almost all parameters.
